Sunday Afternoon

So Sunday afternoon we drove up near the Block U to get out of the apartment and take a few more pictures. Kenley just woke up but was still good for the picture show. Mom is wearing her favorite dirtbiking tee shirt and is upset that I actually published these photos of her. I like to call it payback. Tomarrow mommy goes back to work. She is going to attempt to take kenley with her and see if it is possible to avoid a nanny. We'll keep you all updated.

Friday we went on a little hike up to twin lakes at Brighton ski resort. It was probably below freezing and there were areas of snow all around from this week's storm. It seems that it was just weeks ago that it was 95 degrees everyday. Utah is a special place. Who needs fall any way. Its only my favorite season. Anyway, this was Kenley's first hike outside of mommy. She did pretty well. Mom just had to give her a snack up at the lake and the litte string bean was good for the hike down without any fuss. Kenley is now starting to express her voice during the mornings once she is fed. She will just lay there and make all kinds of voice sounds content as can be. So far this behavior is limited to during the morning. Every day we notice slight changes. She is a wonderful blessing to our family, unless it's midnight and we want to get any sleep.

Big Talker

Kenley has decided she likes to talk. These videos are some examples. She has been waking up early in the morning and talking to us for an hour or more. Usually around 5:00 a.m. Which may not seem too early, but when she goes to sleep at 1:00 a.m. makes it seem like you never went to sleep. She also talks during the day when she is content. We love to listen to her.

Pretty Girl

This was Mommy's outfit when she was a baby. The booties were made by "Grandma" Royce Piggott. Kenley's hair is really more of a light strawberry blond. It looks kind of dark in these pictures.

Time sure does fly.

Kenley was six weeks old on Thursday. She is looking much more like a cute little baby and less like an alien. Not that she wasn't always cute, she just has more baby fat now. We have taken her out to a couple movies. She is usually very good and sleeps through most of them. However, she likes to make little cooing noises while she sleeps and seems to decide to make the loudest noises during the quietest parts of the movie. We took her to a baseball game with the Salt Lake Bees a couple weeks ago. It was a nice warm night and we sat behind the outfield wall on the grass. The fireworks after the game didn't scare her, although I thought they were too loud and had to cover her ears. She just laid there with big, wide eyes.

I have one more week off and then back to work. Kenley is coming with me and we think that it will work well since she is such a good baby. The office is full of women and they are all excited to have her come. Only "Uncle Dave" (the one man in the office) isn't too excited, but none of us listen to him anyway. The receptionists should have no problem holding Kenley, if she gets upset and I am really busy. All they do is read most of the time anyway.

Bath Time

Kenley loves taking baths.

She thinks she looks super cute in her duckie bathrobe and hat. Mommy agrees.

Mommy and Daddy's favorite thing about bath time is when Kenley falls fast asleep for the night.

We missed Kenley going to the bathroom as soon as Daddy tried to take her out of the bath. Luckily he was still holding her over the tub and she didn't go all over the floor.

Kenley's First Bed
We had to wait a week for Grandpa and Grandma (aka Sasha) Rehder to arrive with the bassinet. So Kenley slept in a little plastic tub. A perfect fit. Now it works great as a place to soak the clothes that are stained with spit up and poop until laundry day.

Welcoming Kenley Rose

Kenley Rose Knoebel was born August 9, 2007. She weighed 6 lbs 6 oz and was 19 inches long. She has blond hair and blue eyes. She looked exactly like her daddy. Now that she is a month old, you can see more of mommy in her. She has mommy's hands and feet. Daddy's chin and nose. She is a good little baby and we love her a lot.
